Happy weekend

Photo: amazon

I have a great love for all things 1960's and 1970's. Here's a book I've been wanting to get for a while, Leroy Grannis' Surf Photography of the 1960's and 1970's. Beautiful pictures taken by Grannis, a surfer himself, of surf life in California and Hawaii during those years.

Before there was the GoPro camera, Grannis suction-cupped a waterproof box to his board, allowing him to change film in the water and stay closer to the surfing action than other photographers of the time. And even more amazing, Grannis didn't pick up a camera until he was 42, when he made a career out of photography. Just goes to show you, it's never too late.

This unlimited popular edition can be found on amazon for $89.99. But the original limited Collector's Edition (there were only 1,000 of them) sold by Taschen, the art book publisher, sold out in record time. There's one on ebay right now, signed by Grannis himself, with a buy it now of $650 or you can make an offer. Cowabunga!
